Dirt Platoon - War face Album Cover

Dirt Platoon are one of the Best hip hop duos to surface for a long time. When I first heard these dudes I was thinking “these kats are raw and ain’t f***ing around” Raf Almighty and Snook Da Crook from Baltimore are comparable to the legendary M.O.P. with their hard street sound and no bulls**t rhymes. Their Sophomore album produced by Kyo Itachi is a fire album with some hard hip hop production and only a few features from Ruste Juxx, Dro Pesci, Skanks from Bankai Fam, Shabaam Sahdeeq and Milez Grimez, which isn’t a bad thing as the duo lay down some wicked bars and sometimes too many features takes away from the artists as they have less of their own content to lay down. Every track bangs and it’s a very cohesive album. A nice touch is a remix of every tune on the album by different producers so once you know the album back to front you can change it up a bit with a few remixes. Not many albums do that. Dirt Platoon are as real as real gets. No flashy s**t in their bars or videos and that’s the epitome of real hip hop. Video to “Animal S**t” is a prime example.

Army of Two has a sick east coast style beat with a VST sound you don’t hear a lot of nowadays, that’s a Vibraphone style instrument. Love those old sounds, it’s so hip hop along with horns, brass, cord organs etc.

Dirty Work Featuring Ruste Juxx has a nice use of VST too. Kyo knows how to work in the Lab.

Point of Attack goes HARD. 7 minutes of rawness.

War Face is a slept on classic by so called fans of Hip Hop who don’t know about REAL HIP HOP. Dirt Platoon are criminally underrated and should be known much more than they are.
