New Year but some things remain the same…. The Bad Seed continues where he left off after a super productive and high quality catalogue in 2020, but this time he delivers a Double A Side single – ‘Black Zeus’ and ‘Daddy Dearest’. Both tracks are produced by JR Swiftz and will feature on the upcoming self titled ALBUM (updated from EP – but Seed just has too manu dope tracks to just give you an EP!) from The Bad Seed which will drop on Feb 6 (which is Seed’s bornday but hip hop heads are the ones getting the gift!)
Seed has been everywhere and shows no signs of slowing down. In the latter half of the year, we saw him launch 6thManEntertainment, he did some live awards too and Raw Side Hip Hop were honoured to be nominated for Best Blog (props to 7th Boro for getting the gong) and we got the debut from his artist Honey Dinero. Bad Seed also features on two tracks including Pull Up Team (Snubbie) which has been getting play from the legendary DJ Premier and we reviewed ‘Retribution’ by Honey Dinero here.
BUT, the foot is to the floor and Seed is giving us plenty more with these two dope new tracks. ‘Daddy Dearest‘ is a really mature and introspective offering. The honest, laid back track is something different and out of the box but is done brilliantly with a sobering truth you can’t deny. It’s a quality joint. In contrast, ‘Black Zeus‘ gets back to the grimey, hardcore, street style raps that the gruff delivery of Seed delivers so well. Crank the speakers, make that stankface and get gully when you’re banging this one.
Peep both tracks and let us know what you think and make sure you circle the drop date of 6 Feb in the diary to grab a copy of The Bad Seed Self Titled EP.
