Flee Lord & Pete Rock - The Peoples Champ album cover

When two titans meet there is bound to be more than just a shock wave, an almighty eruption which can be heard all around the Hip Hop world! And that’s exactly what’s happened when Flee Lord and Pete Rock teamed up to bring us an almighty banger of a project, ‘The Peoples Champ’ which is the peoples album so the title works. If your not up to speed with Flee Lord, he was Prodigy’s protege  and at the time of them meeting and kicking it Flee was only doing freestyles and messing around spitting bars with P after hitting the clubs and then just kicking it at after parties when P realised how good Flee was and he said to him “I think you should rap” and that’s how Flee Lord started.

Imagine having a Legend like Prodigy from Mobb Deep telling you “I think you should rap”. Fast forward about 7 8 years and now Flee is working with such Legends as Pete Rock. Now i don’t need to go over Pete Rocks History as I’m sure we all know about one of hip hops greatest producers. The Peoples Champ is a great East Coast NYC album and its more than Boom Bap. I only use the term Boom Bap when it’s proper old east coast sound, not all New York sounds Boom Bap. Just like not all West Coast is G Funk especially new stuff. Flee really does PR production justice and they really do spark it up. It’s raw, gritty and bangs and with some of the best material from both artists its one jot to be missed and I will put it out there and say “it’s a contender for Album Of The Year” and with so many others in for the running its easy to say that 2020 has been another great year for Hip Hop.

Bangers:  24 Hollows, Different Options, Retired From The Sniffy, Job Done,

Score: 8/10 This is a project that any Hip Hop head needs in their life and again its short but sweet and I just craved more.

Don’t forget to hit up the socials FACEBOOK & TWITTER for all that Hip Hop goodness.
