It’s been a long time coming, and hip hop heads will still have to wait a few more months, but Ghostface Killah has announced his much anticipated ‘Supreme Clientele 2‘ album will drop in February 2022, twenty two years after the epic original. It wasn’t ALL good news for some fans though, with GFK also announcing the album will see Kanye West and Mike Dean as Executive Producers on the upcoming project.
Now, plenty will understand that being an Executive Producer doesn’t mean making all the beats, or handling all the production. Ye will likely be assisting in the overall project, helping clear samples, some financing and SOME creative flair. In fact, it was after Supreme Clientele that Kanye really hit his straps and started taking the world by storm, so we could see a really positive return to sample based production. As yet, we don’t have any additional information on production, features etc but hip hop heads have every right to be equally optimistic and cautious.
The original Supreme Clientele is one of the dopest hip hop albums of all time. Not just one of the Wu Tang Clan crews best, not just one of GFK’s best, but one of the best long-play hip hop albums EVER, so releasing a second installment isn’t something Ghostface is likely to take lightly. Stay tuned for more info as we get it. In the meantime, Ghostface is gearing up to rock the stage as part of the upcoming ‘3 Chambers’ tour alongside fellow clansmen GZA and Raekwon.
