Sean Wrekless hit our radar last year with a killer collaborative album with Myrts Son and now he’s back behind the boards and hitting our headphones with this super soulful and chilled EP titled ‘Escapism‘.

Alongside four dope tracks, we also get the four instrumentals which is brilliant because the production on these joints is quite inspired, lo-fi hip hop that you can just press play on and have vibing away in the background. But, back to the tracks themselves. ‘Mind Travelling‘ features Og Blak on the mic and it’s a hypnotic number with emotional verbal barbs. Myrts Son is back alongside Sean for ‘Alright‘ which also features Kenya T and Lady T. This track just CRUISES and you get lost in the production and the hook. ‘Knoxlist’s Escape’ is a funky, jazz-infused, spoken word style joint while the final track ‘Water Villas‘ features some triumphant horns which parallel the flow of Lxnny.

While it’s a short, punchy little EP, the quality and content is top tier. It’s a refreshing break from a lot of the generic hip hop, and Sean Wrekless knows how to make the instruments sing over his production. Check it out and let us know what you think.
