Always Forward. It’s a poignant phrase of positivity, and it’s also the mantra of hip hop artist Lomel, which resonates on so many levels when you understand the path this man has walked. But before we dive into that, let’s paint the current picture for hip hop heads around the world. Lomel is currently flooding timelines and newsfeeds due to his World Record attempt to rap for FORTY EIGHT HOURS. That’s right, two days of bars – hence the Lomel vs 48. It’s a massive goal to have, but as you’ll learn, Lomel doesn’t settle, he aims to succeed and exceed. Having already attempted (and beaten) the current Guinness World Record of 33.5 hours (only to have the attempt voided due to a timing technicality that Lomel himself takes full responsibility for), this next attempt is just as personal and just as inspiring.

Growing up, Lomel had a rugged time of it. Bouncing from home to home and eventually spending time behind bars, he understandably became rather bitter and angry at the world. Dealing with death, pain and loads of anger, he found it difficult to understand life and his place in it. One thing that was steadfast within him though, was music – singing and rapping, reciting poetry and freestyling. Whatever life held for Lomel, making music was destined to be a huge part of it. What started as a lil trash talking and braggadocio in a radio interview, resulted in the world record for rapping being looked up and a subsequent attempt from Lomel to make his mark. As mentioned previously, after much back and forth, getting into a studio and making it happen, an oversight in timing saw the attempt disqualified and Lomel deflated.

However, Lomel is never defeated. His modern day attitude is to uplift and inspire and he truly lives and believes that anything is possible, which is why he is back at it again, but this time he isn’t just gunning for the record, he is making this a two day, rapping, singing, freestyle extravaganza that not only he, but everyone can be proud of and be part of. Hell, it’s why Raw Side Hip Hop reached out to get the story – because we recognise the heart and soul that is going into this and we LOVE throwing our support behind people with an appreciation for the art and culture, but also those who are inspiring.

In February, history may or may not be made, but we encourage everyone to show love and support to Lomel. From his busking in Hollywood to his online positivity, his quest to achieve the best for EVERYONE is infectious. You can find out more by visiting and by following him on his social media channels. Tap in and check out some of the dopeness he’s dropped recently too – including his feature (with Method Man) on one of the best albums of last year ‘Computers For The Hood‘ by DLP x iNteLL.
