KXNG Crooked recently dropped a killer new single ‘Schea Cotton‘. Whenever we get new music from Crook, you know it’s gonna be legit, but even with lofty expectations, this new joint really goes hard. The title is intriguing in itself because Amazon Prime currently houses a documentary titled ‘Manchild‘ which is the story of the famed hooper (or is it baller – who knows these days!) and is riveting viewing.
But back to the track at hand. The track is a funky, west coast flavoured joint that scores from the jump. As an intro, Crook acknowledges that when we speak on him, real heads know that his name is synonymous with lyricism and then he commences the onslaught of dope lyrics and clever wordplay.
“Wide open for the J and I’m Schea Cotton………. / I’m magic with the rock like I’m Earvin Dwayne Johnson” this is a dream come true matching the hoops and hip hop culture seamlessly – but this track doesn’t stop there. Kxng builds into the joint and just straight up flows with intellect and knowledge while keeping it straight gangsta and funk-filled.
The Long Beach lyricism is on full display as he slays with confident bars citing ‘Long Beach Mount Rushmore’ and with Schea Cotton, it’s hard to argue. “If it’s about the purest lyricists on the coast, you’re looking at the GOAT” and he may just be right.
