Best hip hop albums 2022

It’s been one hell of a year in 2022 when it comes to dope AF hip hop! At the halfway mark of the year, it’s time we take a look at some of the incredible albums that have dropped already in the first half of ’22 (as well as some of the late 2021 drops since that’s how we manage the Raw Side Hip Hop Awards!). There is no denying that we have seen some heavily anticipated joints hit the mark, but we’ve also been treated to some fantastic new music from relatively new or just breaking through artists as well – and it has ensured the headphones have remained chock full of some of the best hip hop in the last 10 years! We know this isn’t gonna be a comprehensive list and that everyone is going to have their own favourite albums, so if we haven’t got it up here, it’s no offence, it’s all love, and make sure you share anything we couldn’t fit in the piece!!!

To keep it a buck, we haven’t chosen anything that’s dropped in the past week because we haven’t been able to really give it proper dues and we don’t want that recency bias, but in the end, this is all just about sharing some really dope hip hop that has had our heads nodding and headphones thumping. You may agree, disagree, you may put us on to something we’ve overlooked which is GREAT because individually we can’t get to everything but as a collective hip hop culture, we can support as much as possible. So let’s get to it.
