Something a little different but so dope. An alternative Hip Hop Duo from the UK (an MC/Producer Duo) named ‘Crooked Shadows’ based between London and Dorset. They released their debut on Feb 21st 2020 on all music platforms. A DJ who premiered their single on BBC Music, described them as a mash up of Jurassic 5 and everything else. Their influences range from /Madlib/Nas/Kanye West/J Dilla/ATCQ to Four Owls/ Ugly Duckling. The samples on the instrumentals range from old Japanese records to 70’s funk and soul.
Man this is feel good music. The opening track just lifted my spirits and I couldn’t stop listening to it. The vocal samples are free and the lyrics along with a wicked beat make this track so damn good, it’s flames. The whole EP is feel good and it’s dope. I love my raw, hardcore Hip Hop but at the same time I love my uplifting soulful funk flavas too. This is a sick debut EP, I hope we hear more music from these dudes very soon.
