From the producer / composer who brought you “Cultural Revolution” with hip hop legend Blaq Poet this past November, Serious Truth teams up with 2009 XXL Freshman Class alumni & former Interscope Records signee Charles Hamilton to bring you a short, yet high quality project titled ‘Controversial‘.
The entire project is an original composition by Serious Truth, without the use of samples. The album art is an illustration by Serious Truth, who also has written and performs the lyrics with Charles Hamilton on this soulful, dusty little banger.
When Serious Truth is involved, you’re going to get something that makes your ears prick up. It’s top quality, authentic hip hop, but always manages to find a variation of a lane to deliver his work in. The pairing with Charles Hamilton this time around, is really cohesive and in stark contrast to the more forceful and energetic ‘Cultural Revolution’ joint. The production is fantastic and not overdone, and lyrically both emcees are sharp, slicing up the track with well-written, substance-filled bars.
