Benny Slumz

Benny Slumz drops ‘From The Slumz‘ a collaborative project with Tone Spliff on the production, and the result is a really dope album for those who love that authentic, gritty, boom bap hip hop sound. The two teamed up on the Tone Spliff single ‘Murder Scene‘ back at the end of 2021, and the pair have continued that dope, grimy sound – and just amplified it on half a dozen tracks with ‘From The Slumz‘.

After the intro sets the scene, the title track gets things started with a heavy boom bap flavour and cuts from Tone, while Benny uses his bars to paint pictures of the streets where he grew up and the lifestyle challenges associated while maintaining his grind and growth. ‘Remember Me‘ has a more soulful vibe to it, with a haunting vocal crooning over the top of crisp, punchy drums. It’s more street poetry from Benny too, who has a knack for crafting his verses to capture the hearts and minds of listeners. It’s not all doom and gloom though, and ‘Came To Party‘ brings that street party, summertime anthem that has such a positive vibe, you can’t help but to nod the head. Featuring Von Summers, Martini Rossini and Bill Staks, this track should get a lot of play on radio and in rides across the globe, bringing that Bad Boy club banger energy.

Act Accordingly‘ brings it back to a more serious and introspective vibe as Tone weaves in and out with cuts, eerie vocal samples while Benny gets back to dropping serious lyrical heat and then ‘Taste It‘ dominates the speakers with that hardcore boom bap boardwork, and Slumz gets really purposeful behind the mic and delivers with intent. The final track ‘We Are Rulerz‘ features Seis & The One Lavic completes the picture with another more fluid, flowing track that has a lounge kinda vibe throughout, but also sees the emcees step up to the plate with bars you can feel.

This is a really dope project and the chemistry between Benny Slumz and Tone Spliff is palpable. Each track really hits you differently, and makes you tune into the music, whether thats the instruments, the cuts or the bars & hooks. It captures your attention and takes you on an audio journey you don’t want to miss. Pre-save the album NOW and get ready for the release to drop on October 28th.
